Welcome to the Black Owned Economy Facebook Community! You have joined us at such an exciting and monumental time, not only in the group but in society, a real wind of change is coming and we are in control of where it blows!
Below you can find information on how the Facebook group functions! This is to help you navigate through thousands of amazing black owned businesses. We offer opportunities to learn and grow from one anothers expertise, and strongly encourage networking and engaging with each other. Businesses wouldn’t survive without customers and service users so we value and encourage members’ feedback, reviews and constructive criticism.
Whilst we are aware that difficult conversations surrounding race, injustices and our own personal experiences NEED to be had, we must stress that the Black Owned Economy Facebook group is not the appropriate platform for this and therefore these conversations will be removed by admin. We are by no means saying that the conversations aren’t valid however we must remain focused on the businesses and uplifting one another to reach our goal to create generational wealth.
HOW CAN I PROMOTE MY BUSINESS?
Each business owner will be able to submit ONE introductory post to the group. This post should include a brief description of your business, any links, handles and accompanying images. The post will be reviewed by admin and approved provided it does not breach any of the group guidelines.
HOW CAN A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER LOCATE MY POST AFTER MY INTRODUCTION?
Once your post is approved you will then be notified by Facebook and your post will appear in the group’s feed. Members can then place their own business into the designated topic(category) at the time of submitting the post, after this we as moderators will be able to do this for you. However where possible please categorise your post prior to submitting for approval. Topics are separated into industry and gives potential customers one location to go to with all the relevant businesses.
WHY WOULD MY POST BE DECLINED?
Posts will only be declined if they go against the group guidelines. It is important to familiarise yourself with the rules of the group to avoid any disappointment.
HOW DO I CONTACT ADMIN/MODERATORS?
Contacting admin/moderators directly is prohibited and anyone found to be doing this will be removed from the group.
Admin/moderators can be contacted on the BLACK OWNED Economy page (please do not confuse this with the group. The page is there exclusively to give members an efficient way to get in contact with us)
You can also contact us on Instagram; @BLACKOWNEDECONOMY, where we have a team who also respond to member queries. Please ensure to follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with the latest Black Owned Economy news.
General posts operate within a hashtag system. This is to aid in navigation on this large group. This also encourages member engagement. Please find the hashtags and the way in which they are used below.
Is for members of the group looking for a service, advice or assistance from other members/field experts. (e.g. #BLACKPAGES I am looking for an experienced web developer) Members are then able to answer the query by putting themselves forward or tagging any web developers they are familiar with.
Professionals can also click #BLACKPAGES on the page and leave their business information on relevant threads.
In addition to the #BLACKPAGES, there is also a universal search facility in the group. This can be used to search for keywords (e.g. Accountant Manchester) it will then produce the relevant posts/comments from the group.
We HIGHLY encourage reviews from customers! Reviews are essential for businesses and can have a massive positive impact on generating further custom. Please use this hashtag to let the group know your thoughts on any product or service you have used in the group. Whilst we would love all reviews to be positive we know this is just not realistic and therefore only ask ALL reviews remain respectful and any issues are addressed with the business owner directly as well as posting on the group. (The Black Owned Economy Group has no contractual agreement with any businesses promoting in the group and therefore we are extremely limited in terms of mediation and resolutions. Due diligence is a must for ALL)
POSTS FOUND TO BE USING HASHTAGS INCORRECTLY WILL BE DECLINED.

#SpotlightSundays are live at 8pm every Sunday (UK time). This will begin with a quick update on the group and any news or new information we have to share. We will then go live with four businesses giving them 15 minutes each to promote themselves and their businesses to the group. As moderators, part of our role is to look out for any businesses we feel will benefit from going on live we will then contact you to see if you would like to join us on our#SpotlightSunday segment. We want to allow as many businesses to have the opportunity to reach over 100k people and share their story and expertise.
