About Dominique, the founder
Dominique is as a female tech entrepreneur who has an emotional connection with the advancement of her community. She is passionate about using the latest technology and digital media to empower and uplift the black economy. As a millennial and a business owner, one of her biggest qualities is networking and connecting people.
In 2017 while living in London Dominique Lescott began her entrepreneurial journey with a personal challenge to buy exclusively from UK black businesses. This prompted her to use her influence and leadership skills to mobilise her former employers Professional Black Network to deliver positive changes for the organisation’s ethnic minority employees.
Whilst living abroad in St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominique used the time to develop and grow her business before returning to the UK to launch Hair Popp.
Since launching Hair Popp in 2018, Dominique has been shortlisted for a Midlands Business Community and Charity Award, featured in the BBC, Stylist Magazine, Starling Bank, Metro and Glamour Magazine and has been interviewed and been on panels about women in business.
About Hair Popp!
Hair Popp is an online marketplace for natural hair care products and accessories for customers with afro and curly hair by black British hair care brands.
Hair Popp are making it easier and convenient for customers to purchase hair care products online.
Both online and offline, Hair Popp is building a network within the UK black community by connecting black owned suppliers with their customers, so they don't have to buy on the high street.
During lockdown, Hair Popp have continued to serve its customers and brand partners. As we are in the second wave of lockdown, Hair Popp are hosting a virtual Christmas market for its existing hair care brands, working with a black-owned event organiser based in Atlanta. The event is open up to quality, black British brands, so that customers can continue to be part of a community and shop black owned for Christmas and Kwanzaa.
